State of the Giants

Agreed. Finding a good back up QB may be hard with the cap hell the Giants are in though.
Some experts are talking up Mitchell Turbisky as the back QB who could challenge Daniel Jones.
That sounds got but two things to consider. Turbisky played behind much better offensive lines than Daniel Jones. Considering according to PFF the Giants Centers and Guard rated last in 2021 I wonder if Turbisky would have been better playing behind the Giants Line.

I just wonder sometimes have any of the Daniel Jones critics ever played QB at a school or pro level. I heard he doesn't look off safeties. Locks into his primarily receiver and doesn't go to other options.
Sounds good but when you're in the eye of storm with 2.5 seconds to get the ball out. Have a garbage offensive line does he have the time to go to his second and third receivers. I doubt it. He's going to someone he trusts to catch the ball. That's what receivers are supposed to do right.

I heard the same criticisms of Phil Simms and Eli early in their careers. They turned out all right. I think Jones will be just fine when he has a decent offensive line and receivers who can catch the ball. JMHO

I think Joe Schoen has done a really good job so far of creating cap space for a team in cap hell and not much talent. I believe he going to bring a lot of good changes to Giants on how to run an organization.

I forgot to include receivers who can separate and catch the ball for the Giants. Thinking about Josh Allen and why Jones didn't make the big 3rd year leap some thoughts came to mind. There both big strong players who can really move the ball down the field. They both can run. Josh Allen had an excellent offensive coordinator and QB coach and continuity. The trade for Stephon Diggs sure helped! He was just on better team!
I don't know what Jones ceiling his. I am not sure even the experts know, but I was impressed with his 2019 season. Let Schoen and the Giants build a team around him that puts him in a position to succeed and he will just fine.

I don't care who your QB is, if he's spending most of the game running for his life, you'll probably end up with a loss. The best QB's in the league could not have prospered behind the Giants turnstile of a line. How did Patrick Mahomes look in the SB when he lost both starting tackles? He made a few plays while scrambling, but final result was a loss. Tom Brady looked pedestrian against the Giants in both SB losses because his Oline could not keep the Giants off of him. Give D Jones a decent Oline and lets see what he can do. The running game has been a joke the last few seasons, decent line play could actually bring back effective run fakes to the passing game. When your QB has time to check through his reads, chances are someone will be open. Drives me crazy when announcers give the QB so much credit for going through his progressions without mentioning that he has the time to have a cup of coffee before he has to get rid of the ball! Pro football has gone through a change to more of a passing league, but the basic formula for consistent success is still the same; you win in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. D Jones can make all the throws, he's very intelligent, works hard and is respected by his teammates.....all the qualities needed to be successful. His problem with turnovers (IMO) will become less of a factor when he doesn't have to try to win the game by himself. I do believe Schoen will have the Giants headed in the right direction, and in the next few years you will see a solid foundation built for sustained success. Looking forward to the draft!

It just seems like the whole scouting department needs to be evaluated and maybe revamped. GB finds All Pro offensive tackles like David Bakhtiar in th 4th Rd.. Jon Runyan G played a approx. 1000 snaps last year. He gave up 2 sacks and zero penalties. He was drafted in the 6th round of the 2020 draft.
For many years the Giants just can't find a good offensive lineman in the draft. That has change if there going to get back to winning football.
