State of Giants Offensive Line

Neither would I. But I'm not sure if he's starter material.
This is part of Nick Falato's review of Ben Bredeson on 9/1/21 on this site:

“I studied Bredeson coming out of Michigan. He wasn't known for his athletic ability, but he brought a lot of toughness to the position. He was a consistent player who was strong in the run game, and he's also a solid overall pass protector”.

“He may not be the most athletic, but I believe the Giants traded for a player who can impact this team for the next three seasons - that's not a standard acquisition on the market for the draft value surrendered”.

Given the state of the Giants offensive line, they should give Brederson a chance to start this year.

With my latest mock draft, I had the Giants drafting: Tyler Linderbaum, Ikem Ekwonu and Zion Johnson
with their 1st 3 picks. I think all 3 could be day 1 starters. I also had Bruss and Wattenberg as guys who could be developed.

It will be interesting to see how Joe Shoen will address the offensive line between the draft and free agency.

With Judge how do you know he was really healthy. That said I wouldn't give up on a 2020 guard who was highly rated but got hurt and got caught in the chaotic 2021 NY Giants.
It's been reported that Andrew Thomas had ankle surgery on left ankle in January 2022. The same ankle he had surgery on last year. It seems like Judge when asked about a player with a possible injury usually gave an answer that basically said nothing. Judge was a tough guy who trained his players hard. Joe Shoen has to get to the bottom of what causes these injuries. It's a shame that Thomas could have possibly had the surgery done earlier. This way he could have been ready for OTAs and the start of camp.

How much earlier could he have gotten surgery? It appears that he waited until right after the season ended.

It's been reported that he was dealing with ankle injury during the season. He had surgery on that same ankle the end of last year. Point is if he hurt the same ankle then why not shut him down and address it then. Makes me wonder who making the medical decisions?

Well to be fair, with the season having gone down the toilet when it did, I could see the argument to for Thomas to get the surgery sooner. But he didn't want to miss any time.

As long as Thomas is ready for the season. I'm anticipating Shoen taking at least two other potential OL Starters in the Draft (not exactly a daring prediction considering the collection of detritus Gettleman left us with) so he'll need to be there to help the rookies come along.

I agree, but didn't we go down that road with Daniel Jones injuries. While it's commendable, it's not Andrew's decision on how the injury should be treated. The head coach has to do the right thing for his player whether he likes it or not.

Great point! Second surgery on same ankle. Do the doctors and trainers really know how long it will take to heal. When he comes back how well will the ankle holds up.

The 5 & 7 picks in the 1st round of a draft are very valuable. Having said that with so many needs it may be better to take Linderbaum with the 5th pick. Then try to maximize the value of the 7th pick through trades for draft picks and acquisition of other assets. Schoen has to figure out a way to sign a few mid level O-Line vets. Then draft a least 2-3 offensive lineman who can be either be starters or guys to develop. JAT
