He should not. He has not demonstrated an ability to manage a game intelligently or imaginatively. His players may like him and play hard, but the talent level is execrable, especially the offensive line. Gettleman bears most of the responsibility for this, but Judge has let it happen. It is simply painful for Giants fans to watch this. I have been one since 1952. We long-term Giants fans deserve better days. We are not going to get them with Judge.
Judge is still a young head coach learning the ropes. I think he has the makings to become a good one, but this teeth-cutting period sure has been painful. At what point should the team pull the plug on him?

This year for many reasons. One being he has no prior head coaching experience, and it shows too often.

Judge won his initial press conference with the media. He became a media darling. Now it looks like the media is starting to evaluate him on his performance which has produced a record of 10-18. JMHO, but as a fan I don't understand why the Giants would want to give him a third year. Has he really earned a third year?

No experience as an offensive or defensive coordinator. Gave a great interview, as if he knew the game of football. Says he’s pleased with the progress. What progress? The offense is ponderous. Where is the hurry-up offense that worked a few years ago?

Makes me wish for Pat Shurmur LOL. Shumer and Mike Shula were doing a good job developing Daniel Jones and the Giants scored points. They were fun to watch compared to the last two seasons.
There are a lot of things he's learning that I can guarantee you he'll do differently next year if he's retained. That said, I wonder if the lack of aggressiveness has to do with the personnel he has on the O-line.

It was Gettleman and Judge that put this offensive line together. He seems to make the same mistakes over and over. As your article states he needs to be honest with the fans. The happy talk is getting old as expressed by many media experts. So that dog won't hunt. The question I have is does he deserve another season?

He may be a young head coach, but he has been around long enough in the NFL so that he should know how to manage a game with regard to time-outs and going for it on fourth down with a team that has nothing to lose. These tactical mistakes are what are turning me against him. I don't see them winning another game this season, beginning with a debacle this Sunday in L.A. Mike Glennon is hopeless. Judge ought to start Jake Fromm. At this stage of the season playing veterans is whistling past the graveyard. Of course, Gettleman has shown a total inability to assess talent and left Judge with a losing hand, but I don't see Judge trying to make the most of the sorry lot he's left with.
The way I see it is Judge also has these last five games to show he belongs with the big boys. I still think he gets another year, but we'll see--stranger things have happened.

It’s very unfortunate that Daniel Jones suffered a neck injury against the Eagles. Who knows how serious Jones neck injury is? Judge is so cagey with his answers about injuries and mostly anything else.
Jones was also injured in the 1st Dallas game in October of this year when he took a vicious hit to the head. It was reported that Jones suffered a concussion. Jones played the next week against Rams. He ran a quarter back sneak in a game the Giants were blown out. What was Judge thinking running that play a week after Jones suffered a concussion? He was ridiculed by some in media for exposing Jones to further injury on running a quarter back sneak.
Jones was drafted as a pocket passer QB by the Giants. Judge knows that but he continues to use him as a part of the running game. that makes no sense to me. If Judge needed a running back this year, why didn’t he draft one who runs the ball instead of Brightwell who basically plays only special teams.
Jones looked so good in 2019 when he had competent coaching. What's really changed from 2019 to now?
Judge has made it known that he would not put a player in position where he could not protect himself. It seems hard for Jones to protect himself when he’s used as a running back and not as a pocket QB.
When he does get hurt for running the ball then he's injury prone. Maybe if he didn't run those plays, he wouldn't have gotten injured as much. Why are the Giants putting Jones in harm's way?
For Judge this goes to his judgement, competence and credibility as a head coach.
Yesterday Judge was quoted as saying "When it comes to necks, backs, things of that nature, we’re not going to take any risks with our players,”
Does he really mean it, or does it make for a good quote.?

What changed? The system went from more of a hybrid West Coast to a vertical system. As for Judge, I do believe he is sincere in looking out for his players. You need to remember something about Jones. He fights them tooth and nail to play every week. He lobbied hard to play even with his neck issue only to be told no. And he lobbied last year to play on a bum ankle, which has come back to bite him as the coaches and medical staff are trying to protect him from himself.

I defer to you as you’re the expert. My opinions are based on what I see and read. I hope your confidence in Judge turns out to be right. So far, the results haven’t been there though.
I'm 95% certain Judge gets a third year. Giants don't want to have to pay three head coaches (Shurmur is in the final year of collecting from the Giants and Judge would be owed two more years if he's sent packing). Plus I truly think he's convinced team ownership of his long-term plan.

That's interesting. Somehow, I think the Giants have enough money to pay for two, three or even 4 head coaches' salaries at once. If he convinced John Mara and Steve Tisch of his long-term plan he must be a one great salesman. Yesterday the Giants took a real beating. The 2 TDs at the end of the game were meaningless. I call them let's not embarrass the Giants scores. Steve Tisch and John Mara are that well respected in the NFL not to run up the score. Yesterday I saw a Giants Team that had to resort to trick plays on offense and special teams. If I had to guess he sent a message to the team that says they can't score enough point to win the game. Judge and Gettleman's free agent signings have not produced the expect results this year. That's another problem in itself.

In your article today Judge was quoted as saying " "Some of the things that we look at which are some of the hardest things to do when you take over a program can't be seen," Really. What the heck is he talking about.? How about won and loss record "One of the things I found out, being in a different place for the first time in a while, (from) (defensive coordinator) Pat Graham and (quarterbacks coach) Jerry Schuplinski after coming from that experience (Miami) was you're not going to believe how tough it is to teach people how to practice." Really. The players don't know how to practice. What a gem! The players are professional football players. They have position coaches who work with them every day. Neither the players nor coaches know how to practice. If that's the case, then it's on him. If that's the case, why are those players on the team?
Bottom line he sounds like a desperate coach who wants to save his job. He said and I am paraphrasing that some hot shot coaches win for two years and then fame out. Bottom line, his record is 4-9 and could very possibly be by the end of the year 4-13. If that happens his record would be 10- 23 since he's been head coach. As much as Mara and Tisch want to keep him I don't think he's given them and the fans any reason to do so. Enough with the process and now culture is his new thing. Bottom line in the NFL they measure success by how many games you win each year.

If he's convinced team ownership of his long-term plans, he should work with Pat Hanlon instead of being head coach. I still don't understand what he has done to desire a 3rd year.
The results aren't there, but if I had to guess, I'd say he's probably outlined that it's going to take time to rebuild the foundation. Problem is it's not like the Giants started stinking up the place a couple years ago; they've been bad for nearly a decade. But as far as judge is concerned, he's not interested nor invested on what went wrong before he got there.

To me the head coach is invested in everything. He has to own past, present and future.
His foundation building can be viewed as an excuse for his losing record the last 2 years.

If John Mara decides to keep Judge on next season, I hope doesn't give him the keys to the car.
