HOW MUCH DO COMBINE RESULTS REALLY MATTER

How useful are the results of the combine? It was reported today that Les Snead Rams GM and Sean Mcvay H/C will not be attending this year's combine. They probably will not be picking until the 3rd round and they still have 8 picks.
Don't know what to make of that. Most teams can't get enough info about the prospects.
Having said that are the results of a player's performance overrated? Medicals are important. To me getting to know the players and what they want to accomplish with their careers is really important also.

What do you fans think about the value of the combine?

Its important to a team like the Giants who are in cap hell and have to reload using draft picks to relieve the financial burden Gettleman left behind

I think the interviews are very important. Maybe not to raise/drop your stock, but to speak to what kind of person the prospect it. Kind of solidifies what teams are hearing behind the scenes.

The actual performances.....I do think they help a little, but I don't think you see 6th or 7th rounders becoming 1st-2nd rounders. I think it just gives staffs a peace of mind on how they are evaluating prospects.

I think you right about getting to know the players. Asking them the right questions and see if it's what your looking for. I don't to much stock into the performance. It usually helps with someone you don't know well performing way better than was expected. JMHO

The value is more in having access to the medical phase, IMO. I think certain drills can tell you a few things but overall, I think the combine is overraed.

Coach Gene Clemons and I spoke about the combine results on a recent lockedOn Giants podcast, and he gave some great insight into that. Take a listen when you have time:
